Top tips from the Institute of Advanced Motorists to help reduce your fuel costs and increase your mpg

- Remove heavy items that you may have in the boot of the car, the extra weight increases fuel consumption
- Keep windows closed when driving at high speeds, this keeps the aerodynamics of the car
- Don’t use air-con at low speeds, open a window instead
- Avoid over-revving the engine and try changing gears earlier
- With speed humps drive at a constant speed rather than accelerating and braking
