The IAM has revealed that driver and rider error or reaction are the top causes of motoring accidents
The report took in data between 2005 and 2009 and showed that factors such as loss of control, bad manoeuvring or just failing to look properly caused two thirds of all fatal, serious and slight accidents. Not driving within the law, for example speeding, accounted for a third. Driving too fast for the prevailing road conditions featured higher than speeding.
