New V5C Registration Certificate to be introduced

The DVLA will issue new V5C Registration Documents to all re-licensed or SORN vehicles from 15 August

The move, which introduces a different coloured Registration Certificate, is to try and help buyers from purchasing stolen or cloned vehicles. The new certificates will be issued on all newly registered vehicles and when there are changes to an existing vehicle registration, such as a change of keeper or address. The introduction of the new certificate follows the theft in 2006 of a number of blank V5C Registration certificates.
