Government funding cuts hit road safety

The road safety grant, a centrally funded scheme by the Government has been cut by 40%

Some local authorities, such as The Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership, have already started withdrawing services, such as speed cameras, pedestrian crossings and 20 mph zones. Chief executive Julie Townsend from Brake, the road safety charity, said they were “horrified that vital road safety work is grinding to a halt”.
