EU Road injuries target for the next decade
The European Commission has release details of its new 2011 – 2020 road safety programme to reduce road deaths by half
A range of new passive and active devices will be looked at to assist drivers as well as improving road infrastructure and strengthening education for road users. Some of the ideas include exchanging road traffic information between vehicles, black box recorders for commercial vehicles to help in the analysis of accident causes and for motorcyclists a study into the feasibility of airbags in motorcycle clothing.
