M42 variable speed limit gaffe

Speeding tickets issued along two stretched of the M42 could be quashed

The illuminated signs failed to comply with the Governments “Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002”, the BBC said, and that they needed separate approval which didn’t happen.

The Highways Agency believed that they did conform to the regulations but have since applied for approval, upon which it has been found that several other illuminated speed limit signs used on the M1, M20 and M25 could have issues.

The signs have since been approved by the DfT.
