Pedestrian’s texting at increased danger
Pedestrians who use their mobile phone whilst crossing the road are four times more likely to ignore crossing lights
Research was conducted in America where they surveyed 1102 pedestrians as they crossed a road in Seattle. It was found that those who were writing a text took nearly 2 seconds longer to cross than those not texting. Other distracting activities included listening to music, talking on the phone, talking to others or dealing with children or pets.
