Dual layer motorcycle helmet

A Californian based company has developed a motorcycle helmet constructed with two layers

The design has two layers that are joined together with dampeners allowing the layers to move independently of each other, thus dissipating impact energy evenly around a riders head. The design aims to reduce the impact during low speed collisions.

The company, 6D Helmets has tested and compared their design with traditional helmets and at 4.5mph the 6D gives 49g of force to the head, whilst typical helmets give 79g.
