EU motorbike legislation

A majority vote in favour of new rules governing the safety and environmental impact of motorcycles to go ahead in 2016

As part of legislation, that has been two years in the making, bikes above 125cc will be required to have ABS, light motorcycles will have combined braking systems (CBS) and there is a raft of emissions requirements for all motorcycles.

Anti-tampering measures designed to prevent modification that increase the speed of a motorcycle will only affect low to medium power motorcycles whilst all motorcycles will need to have on-board diagnostic from 2016. Time will tell if these new regulations will increase the cost of motorcycling.
