Pothole advice to local authorities

The Pothole Review, part of the Government’s Highways Maintenance Efficiency Programme, provides advice on tackling the pothole menace

The review focuses on three main messages:

Prevention is better than cure;
Right first time for better repairs; and
Clarity for the public

The Review has considered how local highway authorities manage potholes. It makes 17 recommendations that if implemented will provide an improvement in roads maintenance and reduce the number and frequency of potholes occurring.
