Forecourt cameras crackdown on uninsured drivers

Downing Street is in discussions with the large fuel suppliers about commandeering forecourt cameras to catch uninsured drivers

Existing forecourt cameras have ANPR which will only allow a driver to fill up once the number plate has been logged but discussions could mean the cameras in theory could be plugged into the DVLA database to catch uninsured drivers and prevent them from refuelling their vehicles.
