50% of drivers break the 2-second rule

Research from Brake has revealed that 53% of motorists are driving too close to the vehicle in front on motorways.

The survey of 942 drivers found that 61% of male drivers admit to breaking the 2-second rule compared to 46% female drivers. Brake says that the results provide further evidence for their appeal to the Government to scrap the proposed 80mph motorway speed limit and that driving at high speed without adhering to the 2-second rule only serves to increase the chances of an accident.
