January fuel duty rise scrapped

An autumn statement by Chancellor George Osborne has scrapped the January fuel duty rise

In recognition of the downturn economy and sluggish performance the January 3p duty rise has been scrapped in favour of a reduced duty rise in August 2012 of 3p instead of the original 5p. In addition a further £5 billion has been earmarked for 35 transport infrastructure improvements.
