Marmite tanker crashes on M1

A tanker allegedly carrying Marmite overturned on the M1 near Sheffield on Monday spilling its contents onto the motorway

The motorway was closed in both directions as Police and the Environmental Agency cleaned up the spill, which is believed to be waste yeast rather than Marmite. Local environmental officers are monitoring oxygen levels in the nearby rivers to make sure no contamination has occurred.
