New powers to stop pavement parking

The Government has given councils new powers to use signage to identify pavement parking bans

The powers will allow councils to indicate at a local level which pavements have a parking ban on them, rather than having to apply to Government for authorisation to erect signs, reducing the bureaucracy. Pavement parking is completely banned in London. Specific bans can be enforced via civil parking powers and specific rules in the Road Traffic Act 1988.
