Texting at the wheel

A new radio/TV/on-line THINK! campaign has been launched to warn drivers of the dangers of texting whilst drivingUsing mobile phones whilst driving is the second most unacceptable driving behaviour with 93% of motorists in agreement that texting whilst driving is dangerous, still 12% of all motorists admit to texting whilst driving. The campaign is to target young drivers, where 30% admit to texting whilst driving. The offence for using a hand-held phone whilst driving attracts a £60 fine and 3 penalty points. If the case goes to court, the fine rises to £1000 with discretionary disqualification.
