Greater Manchester Police twitter for 999 Calls

Today, Greater Manchester Police have started publishing their 999 calls online at twitter

The move is to show the public and hopefully, the Government, how heavy their workload is in the face of budget cuts by the Coalition Government. The twitter page reveals an interesting insight into the type of calls the Police receive. The usual thefts, dangerous driving and driving without insurance offences and road traffic accidents appear but below are some of the more quirkier ones.

“man seen without a dog in a popular dog walking area”

“Call 466 complaint from member of the public that builders have turned up to complete work two months late in Bolton”

“Call 686 man shouts ‘you’re gorgeous’ to woman”

“Call 674 confused man reporting his tv not working”

“Call 666 Theft of electricity in Salford”

“Call 664 – Man calls to say locked out of house. Wants police to break in for him, Bolton”
