Police admit not enforcing 20mph limit

The Police have admitted that they are not actively enforcing new 20mph speed limits

MPs were “astonished” to hear of the revelations from Mark Milsom, the assistant chief constable of West Yorkshire Police, in a parliamentary inquiry on cycling.

ACPO have now released a press release clarifying the Police’s position on enforcing the lower speed limits, saying that “it is for local police forces to apply a proportionate approach to enforcement of 20mph limits based on risk to individuals, property and the seriousness of any breach”.
