The Government has awarded 27 Police forces extra funds to buy 3D laser crash scanners
In a bid to reduce the time motorways are closed after major accidents, 3D laser technology is to be employed to scan a crash site into a digital representation rather than manually taking measurements. It is expected that the technology will reduce the clear up time after an accident by 39 minutes.
ACPO says “Police forces acquiring this equipment will be in a better position to manage such critical events in a more efficient way and present the most accurate and detailed evidence from the laser scanning devices to criminal, civil and coroners’ courts.”
