Causing serious injury by dangerous driving

The Government have announced plans to introduce a new motoring offence of causing serious injury by dangerous driving

The new offence will have a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison and will allow courts to punish offenders who cause serious injury to others. The maximum sentence for causing Death by Dangerous Driving is 14 years.

The new offence will be included in the Governments Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill.
