Toyota in-car texting criticised

Toyota have showcased the new Yaris which is the first car in the UK to have in-built texting facilities

The technology is a touch screen in the dashboard which allows occupants of the vehicle to send texts, even whilst the car is in motion. As the device isn’t hand-held it isn’t illegal under mobile phone laws. Critics argue however that motorists could be charged with dangerous driving if found not to be in proper control of the vehicle.
