Research suggests that adding an hour all year will make roads safer and reduce carbon emissions
The campaign, Lighter Later, is calling on the Government to change the clocks to GMT+1 in the winter and GMT+2 in the summer. This would effectively provide more daylight when most people are awake. Road safety charity, Brake, says this will reduce the number of KSI (killed or seriously injured) accidents on the roads by nearly 300 annually saving the NHS £138 million. In addition it has the potential for reducing carbon emissions by at least 1/2 million tonnes each year.
