Cold weather driving adds 3p a litre at the pumps

Drivers may be unaware that using heaters, demisters, windscreen wipers and headlights adds to fuel consumption

An AA campaign has revealed that a car driving off in cold temperatures has a fuel consumption that is 40% higher than average. The combination of using the electric rear windscreen, warming up the blowers and running an engine that has cold oil all contribute to the increased cost of running a car in the cold winter temperatures.
