Traffic light countdown invention
A Serbian designer has come up with an innovative way of displaying to drivers how long they have to wait for the red light to turn green
The Eko traffic light has a circular segmented display around the red light, similar to the clock on the TV quiz show Countdown. The segments slowly disappear as the time to green reduces. The inventor claims it reduces driver stress whilst waiting at traffic lights as motorists know how long they have until the green light shows. He already has some manufacturers interested in the design. There are similar mechanisms already installed in countries such as Brazil, China and Thailand.
