Motoring costs up 11%
The cost of owning and running a car has increased 11% in the last two years, according to a leading insurer.
Car insurance has seen the highest rises, nearly 23% more compared to 2007 and tax has increased by 8% over the past year. The cost of petrol however has fallen by 1% since 2008 although with a 2p a litre rise in fuel duty the run up to Christmas could see some forecourts charging as much as 110p per lire. The average running costs of owning and driving a car are £2,388 compared to £2,100 in 2007.
