Euro Speeding Ticket

15 European countries have all signed a treaty to share vehicle and driver’s license records to collect speeding tickets across borders

The system, called Eucaris, connects the vehicle and driver databases from different countries to allow the collection of road traffic offence fines committed by drivers across borders. Work started on Eucaris in 1994 but it was only last year that Germany and the Netherlands became connected and able to issue tickets. By 2011 all EU countries will be signed up to the treaty and able to issue true international speeding tickets as well as putting the system to other uses such as charging vehicles tax per mile.
