Watermelon power

US boffins have come up with an ingenious way of powering cars, with watermelons

Around 350,000 tonnes of watermelons are rejected each year, either due to being mis-shapen or having surface blemishes. Scientists have discovered that these waste melons could easily be converted into bio-fuel, producing 20 gallons per acre of waste watermelons. The UK government wants to see 5% of all fuel sold to be bio-fuel by the end of next year.
