German boffins have developed a mobile application that matches hitchhikers with those offering lifts
The system uses GPS and route software to transmit a hitch-hiker’s location directly to the driver who is offering lifts, allowing the driver to use sat-nav to be directed to the ride-seekers location. Currently there is no system that allows for arranging the occasional impromptu lift-sharing
