Government proposals for overhauling the road network’s signs to include messages to take public transport
The plans include electronic signs designed to inform drivers of the journey time saving they could have made if they had used the train or bus and motorway signs directing drivers to the nearest train station. Signs of this type are not currently in the official manual. Driver’s groups have criticised the plans saying that they won’t inform motorists if public transport is running on time or whether there is space in the station car park. The plans are part of the Governments low carbon future.
