As part of the Governments Red Tape Challenge, 142 regulations are to be scrapped
As part of a public consultation the Department for Transport has approved measures to remove, merge or simplify regulations to lessen the paperwork burden on motorists. These changes include:
- By 2015 the requirement to hold a paper counterpart licence will be scrapped
- Once the DVLA have been notified of SORN the annual renewal will be removed
- The potential to offer paper copies of the V5C only when required
Other proposals that are under review include removing the need for a motor insurance certificate.
