Drugalyser devices coming soon

The Home Office have released the specification for a drug testing device

The devices, to be located at police stations, will allow officers to process drivers suspected to be under the influence of drugs faster. Current procedure requires a medical examiner to come out and authorise a blood test. Manufacturers that wish to develop devices will need to submit them to the Home Office for testing and approval before they can be used. The specification calls for the devices to test for a range of drugs including cannabinoids, cocaine, amphetamines, methylamphetamine, methadone and opiates.
