Laser for detecting drink drivers

A Russian laser gun manufacturer has developed a laser device that can detect alcohol from driver’s breath

The device, named the Alcolaser, detects changes to the laser beam after it hits specific molecules, e.g. alcohol. Different molecules scatter the light in very specific ways. Despite some glaring limitations, such as windows open and ventilation systems in the vehicle, the manufacturer claims the device can operate up to 65 feet and at 75 mph. Russian Police are said to be interested in testing the laser further.
