Local Councils all over England are starting to stock up on salt suitable for road gritting as winter is nearly around the corner
With the last two winters having been quite severe, councils are ensuring they have sufficient stocks to cope. 18% suggest that they each face on average a shortfall of 1700 tonnes of salt, due to demand outstripping supply. Adjacent councils are looking to co-ordinate shared stocks of salt to make up for the shortfall and even sourcing supplies from overseas
