Rubbish on the M25

An initiative by the Highways Agency to educate drivers as to the dangers of dropping litter on the M25 starts

The Highways Agency has collected 5,000 bin liners of rubbish from the M25 in March alone, this equates to 43 bags for every mile of motorway. In 2008 road workers collected 45,000 bags of litter from the M25 and on average every year they collect 700,000 bags from all motorways and A roads. The campaign will offer drivers at various service stations a free carrier bag with the slogan ‘Bag it! Bin it!’, to try and get drivers to take their rubbish home with them.
