2010 Budget effects on motorists

Labour’s 13th Budget holds some changes for motorists particularly in road improvements and fuel duty

Fuel duty will see rises, 1p per litre on 1st of April and October, with 0.76p on 1st January 2011. In addition 1p will be added in real terms on 1st April every year from 2011 to 2014. Road improvements are the other area that will see funding. £100 million will be set aside for the repair of local and regional roads that were damaged by the recent bad weather. £285 million will be used to expand the motorway network to ease congestion.
