The £15 victim’s surcharge which was introduced in 2007 and currently applies to motorists who are found guilty in court may soon be applied to the Fixed Penalty Notice system
What this means for motorists is that if caught speeding or committing any other offence that attracts a fixed penalty notice, the fine, which is generally £60 will rise to £75. In 10 months the surcharge had raised the government around £6.5 million. If applied to other offences it could raise substantially more.
