Japanese manufactured ‘Javelin’ trains have been put into service on the Kent to London St Pancras line
The 140 mph train, named after Kelly Holmes the Olympic gold medallist, is capable of carrying 508 passengers. Journey times on the Ashford to London route have now been cut in half to 37 minutes, but with an increase in ticket price of £8. The trains are part of a wider national scheme to get Britain’s’ rail network modernised. The plans include a high speed link between Scotland and London as well as electrification of 3 routes in the North West.
