If you have been disqualified as a result of a driving offence a court can order you to take the extended practical driving test
The courts can impose the extended test if you are convicted of an offence that requires disqualification such as dangerous driving. The extended driving test is much longer, includes a greater range of roads and is double the cost compared to the normal driving test.
What will happen at the end of my driving ban?
When your disqualification period finishes and you have been ordered to do the extended test, you will need to apply for a provisional driving licence and be expected to adhere to the driving standards that all learners have to. It is not compulsory to have driving lessons from a driving instructor. You will then need to successfully pass the theory test and the extended practical test.
