Insurance premiums hiked due to crash-for-cash gang

261 fraudulent crashes from one gang raised the insurance premiums for a whole county

Sixty people were convicted from a Police operation codenamed Nacho which identified over 260 fraudulent claims by the gang including staged, exaggerated and even completely fictitious accidents. The gang’s exploits raised the insurance premiums for motorists in the whole of County Durham.
