Report on older drivers

The IAM has published findings on older drivers’ attitudes to driving

The report, called “Holding back the gears” used 32 drivers, from eight different age ranges as a sample size performing in a variety of test to measure driving behaviour, reaction times, visual ability and behaviour, driver attitudes and physical ability. The results generally found that driving experience made this age group better at hazard perception and adjusting speed appropriately. It is estimated that by 2032 there will be almost 2 million drivers over the age of 80.
