Whiplash claims, myth or fact?
Much has been said in the news about the high number of whiplash claims and the effect on insurance premiums. The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers conducted some research to explode the myths surrounding whiplash claims
The independent survey of more than 4,000 people from June to August 2012 was designed to separate the myths about whiplash from the truth and provides some surprising answers and provides some workable suggestions for ways of dealing with the real fraudulent claims. The Government’s Compensation Recovery Unit show that claims for whiplash have fallen by almost 24,000 in the past 12 months and that around one in a hundred people suffered a whiplash injury last year, while nearly 40 per cent who have suffered a whiplash injury never claimed compensation for it.
