Mandatory breathalyser kits in France

New French laws mean that all drivers will need to carry a breathalyser kit after 1 July 2012

The new law means that drivers will need to carry a breathalyser kit at all times, alongside the other mandatory items, such as a High-Vis vest and warning triangle. Failure to do so will result in an 11 euro fine from November. Breathalyser kits will be sold at the ferry and tunnel terminals and cost up to £2. The IAM suggest that drivers have two at all times, one spare so that if they use one, they will always have one in case stopped by the Police.
