Motorcyclists test plastic manhole covers
North Somerset Council is testing plastic manhole covers after 19 were stolen
It is believed that the wrought iron covers were sold as scrap metal. One location in Nailsea already has a plastic manhole cover and it is being tested by a local motorcycle group to determine its anti-skid properties. The plastic covers last for 15 years and cost £400 to manufacture.
