Linford Christie guilty of careless driving

The gold medal athlete was found guilty of careless driving at Aylesbury Crown Court last week

At 11.38pm on 8th May 2010 Mr Christie, whilst trying to locate a house, drove down the A413 the wrong way. He collided with an oncoming taxi carrying passengers. Mr Christie was fined £5,000 and given a 15 month driving ban. He managed to avoid the charge of dangerous driving. The occupants of the taxi; a bride and groom, the bride’s uncle and the taxi driver all suffered serious injuries with the Uncle needing reconstructive surgery to his face. He also suffered a broken leg, hip and pelvis and a fracture in his spine.
