Flash headlights

The IAM has conducted research into the reasons why drivers flash other motorists

The poll of nearly 5,000 drivers revealed that the primary reason for flashing other drivers of a Police speed check is to help the driver avoid getting a fine or points. Several reasons were put forward as to why a motorists wouldn’t flash oncoming traffic of a speed trap, mainly safety was a concern, also the flash could be misinterpreted or that the other driver deserves to be caught for speeding. Nearly half of motorists felt that the Highway Code needed some explanation or standard code for flashing headlights at other drivers.
