Breakdown services busy in the cold weather

The recent wintry weather we have been experiencing has given two of the biggest breakdown organisations a very busy few days

Both the AA and RAC combined would have attended 32,000 calls for assistance today. Calls to both motoring organisations peaked at 3,500 per hour. Due to plummeting temperatures, flat car batteries seem to be the frequent problem seen by patrols. The AA estimate that from the 25th to the 30th November they would have received more than 100,000 calls to their emergency call centres. The RAC will have helped more than 55,000 motorists since the commencement of the unseasonal cold weather.
