Motorcycling on the rise

The IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) conducted a survey of nearly 6,000 on motorbike use

The poll found that 78% owned a motorbike as well as a car and 88% use their bike for leisure purposes. Only a minority used their motorbike only for commuting, adding weight to the pattern being a short term trend linked to the current economic climate. An overwhelming majority of the respondents thought that motorcyclists should be allowed to utilise bus lanes and that clearer more consistent signposting and better road conditions would improve the safety of motorcyclists.
