Proposed Dangerous Driving Sentence Increase

Jack Straw, Justice Secretary, has proposed an increase in the maximum prison sentence for dangerous driving from 2 to 5 years

The change to the law would require new legislation to be introduced and would probably not come into effect until after the general election. The change will follow the introduction of new offences, causing death by careless, disqualified or uninsured driving.
