MOT failure rates for car manufacturers
VOSA, the DfT run Vehicle and Operator Services Agency has released MOT failure rates for 2007
The statistics were released after a Freedom of Information request by the BBC, at first VOSA were reluctant to release the figures, stating it would breach commercial confidentiality. The make and manufacturer with the highest failure rate was the Ford Transit Connect closely followed by the Renault Meganne. The manufacturer with the lowest failure rate was Toyota with their Corolla. The figures however do not take into account factors such as mileage of the vehicles, for example vans may be fleet owned cars covering many more miles, therefore having heavier wear and tear.
