Fine for wrong tyres
Motorists in Quebec face a fine of $300 if their vehicle is not running on snow tyres
The law requires that vehicles must use winter-rated tyres between December 15th and March 15th, when the weather conditions in Quebec are at their most extreme. If caught without winter tyres motorists face the $300 fine. About 90% of motorists already use snow tyres. The 10% that don’t cause 38% of the accidents. Snow tyres typically have a deeper tread depth and softer rubber compound than normal road tyres, giving more grip and stability.
